About
Hi, I'm Tech Dad
Well, Simon. But Tech Dad fits on a sticker better.
Why this site exists
I bought babytechreviews.com when my wife and I found out we were expecting. Like a lot of first-time parents, I went looking for the right monitor, the right bottle kit, the right everything, and got completely overwhelmed. There's an astonishing amount of baby tech out there, most of it promising to help you sleep, and very little of it explained in plain English.
The plan was simple: review it all properly, score it honestly, and compare it side by side so other parents didn't have to wade through it all themselves. Then the baby arrived, and life happened, and the domain sat there quietly for a while.
This is that site, finally built.
What you can expect
- A straight answer. Every category has a Gold Star: the one I'd buy. If you only read one thing on a page, read that.
- Scores you can check. Every category has a published scorecard, and every score has its reason written next to it. Here's how it works.
- Honesty about the evidence. Plenty of baby tech sells peace of mind. Where the evidence doesn't back a claim, I'll say so, kindly.
- Safety before gadgets. No product replaces safer sleep, your instincts, or your midwife, health visitor, GP and NHS 111.
- No paid placements. Brands can't buy a review, a score or a star. How the site makes money is spelled out.
Who's Tech Dad?
The cartoon on every page. He's a mid-forties dad with a smartwatch, a well-worn fleece and a strong coffee habit. He's the one handing out the Gold Stars. He may or may not bear a passing resemblance to the author.
