Privacy policy

No advertising trackers, no sign-ups, and analytics only once you have said yes.

What we collect

  • Amazon link clicks. When you click a link to Amazon, the site records which product it was, which page you were on, the website you arrived from (the domain only) and the time. It does not record your IP address, set a cookie or identify you. We use this to see which reviews are useful.
  • Website analytics. We use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics to see which pages are useful, how people find the site and which links they follow. In the UK, the EEA and Switzerland nothing is stored on your device unless you accept the banner; elsewhere analytics runs unless you decline. Either way, Google receives technical information such as your IP address, your browser and the pages you view, to produce aggregated statistics.
  • Server logs. Like almost every website, our web server keeps standard technical logs (including IP addresses and browser type) for security and troubleshooting. They aren't used to identify or profile you.
  • Emails. If you email us, we use your email address and message to reply, and keep them only as long as needed.

Cookies

The site sets no cookies of its own. Google Analytics sets cookies only after you accept: in the UK, the EEA and Switzerland we ask first and store nothing until you say yes, and everywhere else analytics runs unless you decline. Advertising and remarketing storage stays switched off for everyone, because the site runs no ad tags.

Your answer is kept in your browser's local storage (not a cookie) so we don't ask again.

Third parties

  • Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics. Used for the website analytics described above. See Google's privacy policy and how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
  • Google Fonts. The site's fonts are served by Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google's servers to load them, which shares your IP address with Google. See Google's privacy policy.
  • Amazon. When you follow a link to Amazon, you're on Amazon's site and its privacy and cookie policies apply. Amazon may use cookies to recognise that you came from this site.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, and to object to how it's used. In practice we hold very little. Email us and we'll help. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
