The Kids Pro version uses the same 2023 Fire HD 10 hardware but swaps the chunky foam case for a slimmer, more grown-up one, and pitches the content at six to 12-year-olds. Mumsnet made it its best tablet for kids overall, and all 25 of its parent testers said they'd recommend it.
The idea is to give older children more independence without removing the guard rails. They can request apps for you to approve, make calls to approved contacts and use a filtered web browser, while you keep time limits and remote control through the Parent Dashboard.
It shares the Fire HD 10 Kids' strengths (a sharp 1080p screen, a 13-hour battery and the two-year guarantee) and its weaknesses (2023 hardware and a smaller app store than Apple or Google). For a toddler I'd choose the regular Kids version, but this is the one to grow into.
