The full review
The AC25-1 is Angelcare's current movement monitor, and the only baby monitor on its UK website at the time of writing. It combines a wireless, contact-free sensor pad under the mattress with a video and sound monitor: a 4.3-inch parent unit shows your baby, and if the pad detects no movement for 20 seconds, the alarm sounds on that parent unit.
That's the big practical advantage over cot-side monitors like the Nanny and Babysense: the alarm comes with you around the house. It uses no Wi-Fi, has a range of up to 150m in clear line of sight, and adds infrared night vision, two-way talk, a room temperature display, lullabies and a night light. The pad has four sensitivity levels, so it's worth taking time to set it up for your mattress.
It's medically certified (Angelcare doesn't say which class), and it's the Angelcare model named in The Lullaby Trust's CONI guidance. Angelcare is also an official supporting partner of the charity, which is worth knowing, though the Trust itself doesn't recommend specific monitors.
Reviews are broadly positive. Mother&Baby's tester found it easy to set up with a clear picture and named it the best breathing monitor with a movement pad, though they'd have liked a wider-angle lens. Amazon owners rate the build quality, with more mixed comments on how the pad behaves day to day. Note that Angelcare lists only a no-movement alarm, not a slowed-breathing alert like the Nanny and Babysense monitors.
