The report card
- Soothing & responsiveness30% of score6.8
SootheLoop records your bounce and repeats it, with app control, but only in bouncer mode; the bassinet itself doesn't move.
- Safe sleep design25% of score6.4
Firm, flat mattress in bassinet mode, but the certifications listed are US (ASTM), and bouncer mode must never be used for sleep.
- Everyday use15% of score7.2
Cordless, with app control and automatic nap logging, but it weighs 9kg and testers found switching modes takes some force.
- Value & running costs20% of score5.8
Around £600 for a bouncer and bassinet in one: clever, but a lot for a few months of use.
- Lifespan & flexibility10% of score6.0
Bassinet to five months or 10kg; bouncer to six months or 9kg.
The full review
The Rise is two products in one: a smart bouncer for supervised awake time that converts into a lie-flat bassinet, with the harness retracting as you switch, so a baby who drifts off can be moved into a safe sleeping position without being lifted out. In bouncer mode, Elvie's SootheLoop technology records the bounce you give it and repeats it (for up to 20 minutes, according to MadeForMums), and you can start, stop and fine-tune the bouncing from the Elvie app.
MadeForMums rated it 4.7 out of 5 and gave it Silver for Parenting Innovation in its 2026 Tech Awards, praising the space-saving design, the smooth transition and the sleep tracking. Its testers also found it heavy and awkward to move, noted that switching modes takes real force, and flagged the obvious risk: you have to notice when your baby falls asleep and convert it. Owners on Elvie's UK site rate it 4.4 out of 5, though from only a couple of dozen reviews.
The safety details deserve a close read. Elvie says the bassinet is for naps and night-time sleep, from newborn to five months or 10kg, on a firm, flat mattress, while MadeForMums' review positions it as a daytime nap space. Elvie lists US certifications (ASTM F2194 for bassinet mode and ASTM F2167 for bouncer mode) rather than a British Standard, and bouncer mode is never safe for sleep, which UK advice is equally clear about.
It runs on a rechargeable battery, with Elvie quoting up to four hours of bouncing per charge, so there's no cable trailing across the floor. At around £600, though, you're paying a hefty premium for one clever object over a separate bouncer and crib.
