The full review
Munchkin's Shhh is designed around a simple sequence: a shushing sound to calm an upset baby, a heartbeat to lull them, and white noise to keep them settled. It's small (10.8cm tall), runs on two AA batteries and has a soft night light that can glow steadily or pulse in time with the sound.
The important detail is the timer. The listings describe it switching off after 10, 20 or 30 minutes, so treat it as a settling aid rather than a machine that runs all night. Owners are broadly happy, with 4.3 out of 5 from more than 700 ratings on Amazon UK.
At around £22 it's the cheapest option here, but batteries add up if you use it daily, and for about £13 more the rechargeable Hushh 2 does considerably more.
