The report card

  1. Alert reliability25% of score7.4

The same sock alerts as the Dream Sock, plus cry, sound and motion alerts from the camera.

  2. Certification & claims20% of score8.8

The sock is UKCA and CE marked as a medical device; the camera is a standard video monitor.

  3. Fit & wearability15% of score7.6

The same sock, so the same careful fitting and daily charge.

  4. Getting the alert to you20% of score8.3

Everything lands in one app, but there's no parent unit and one UK tester found the base station range lacking.

  5. Value & running costs20% of score5.4

The priciest option here, though slightly cheaper than buying the sock and camera separately.

The full review

The Dream Duo pairs the Dream Sock with Owlet's Dream Sight camera. The sock works exactly as it does on its own, tracking pulse rate and blood oxygen and alerting you if readings leave preset ranges. The camera adds 2K video with night vision, a 130-degree lens, two-way talk, cry, sound and motion alerts, and room temperature and humidity readings.

Everything sits in the Owlet Dream App, which reviewers rate highly for its sleep analysis. Live health readings and alerts need no subscription; the optional Owlet360 plan adds longer video clip storage (14 days rather than 48 hours) and extra reports.

UK reviews are mixed but instructive. Mumsnet's tester had no false alarms and excellent signal, and liked the camera's wide view. Mother&Baby's tester loved the camera and app but found the base station disconnected repeatedly, even within the stated range, and gave it 3.5 out of 5. Both pointed out there's no separate parent unit, so video is on your phone or nothing.

At around £380, it costs £80 more than the sock alone and about £20 less than buying the sock and the £99.99 Dream Sight camera separately. It only makes sense if you genuinely want a Wi-Fi camera too; if you already have a video monitor, buy the Dream Sock on its own.
