The full review

The Premium (model SCF293/01) is the steam-and-dry version of Philips' Advanced steriliser. It steams, then uses focused jets of filtered air to dry bottles and accessories before switching off, with Philips quoting 40 minutes for a full sterilise-and-dry cycle.

It shares the Advanced's good points: a slim body that still holds six Philips Avent bottles, a drip tray to keep milk off the heating plate, and contents that stay sterile for up to 24 hours with the lid on. Owners on Philips' UK site rate it 4.6 out of 5 across around 165 reviews at the time of writing.

The problem is the competition. At around £115 it costs more than the Tommee Tippee QuickDry, which does the same job in 26 minutes. It's a good steriliser that has simply been overtaken.

Pros and cons

What I like

  • Steam sterilises and dries in one cycle
  • Slim footprint for a six-bottle dryer
  • Drip tray protects the heating plate
  • Stays sterile for up to 24 hours

What I don't

  • 40-minute cycle is slow next to rivals
  • Pricier than the faster Tommee Tippee QuickDry
