The full review
The Sense-U Smart Baby Monitor 3 is a small sensor that clips onto your baby's nappy or sleepwear and talks to a base station over Bluetooth. It tracks tummy movement, whether your baby has rolled onto their front, their 'feeling temperature' and the room's humidity, with lights and sounds on the base station and notifications on your phone.
The rollover and temperature alerts are the genuinely useful extras. In BabyGearLab's testing, the rollover alert set off the base station and phone together, and there were no false breathing alarms, though it did throw occasional incorrect position alerts. It scored 70 out of 100, fifth of the six movement monitors tested.
The limitations matter. It isn't sold as a medical device, so there's no independent assessment behind its breathing claims. BabyGearLab found it pairs with only one phone, which is awkward if both parents want alerts, and some Amazon owners say notifications only come through the app. Its price has ranged from about £90 to £130, so check before you buy.
