The report card
- Safe prep (70C)35% of score8.0
You make the feed with just-boiled water, which is the NHS principle, and the flask then cools it. It's only as safe as the water you pour in.
- Speed & ease at 3am20% of score7.0
Tommee Tippee quotes about two minutes to cool a 120ml feed, and a star on the lid turns green when it's ready. You still need a source of boiling water.
- Feed accuracy15% of score6.5
Manual scooping into a 240ml flask, so accuracy is down to you.
- Cleaning & upkeep15% of score7.6
Rinse it, then the UV lid sterilises the flask in about a minute. USB-rechargeable, with up to 35 cycles per charge.
- Value & running costs15% of score8.2
Around £50 is reasonable for a genuinely useful travel tool.
The full review
The PrepGo UV is the odd one out in this list: a 240ml flask rather than a countertop machine. You pour in boiling water, add your formula, shake, and the flask brings the feed down to drinking temperature. Tommee Tippee says a 120ml feed cools to 40C in about two minutes, and a star on the lid turns green when it's ready.
The UV part is in the lid. Press it and a built-in UV light sterilises the flask in about a minute between feeds, which is handy when you're out and can't steam anything. The battery is USB-rechargeable and good for up to 35 cycles, according to Tommee Tippee, and there's a powder dispenser that holds eight scoops.
On safety it follows the right principle, because the powder meets freshly boiled water rather than a small hot shot. The practical catch is that you need that boiling water. Away from home, that usually means a full vacuum flask of just-boiled water, which the NHS says will stay above 70C for several hours. Always check the temperature before feeding.
