The full review
The Fire HD 8 Kids Pro is the 2024 8-inch tablet in what Amazon calls a sleek-but-sturdy case, aimed at six to 12-year-olds. The Independent chose it as its best kids' tablet overall in 2025, praising the five-minute set-up, the parent dashboard and the battery life.
It has the same 13-hour battery, 5MP rear camera and 32GB of expandable storage as the Kids version, plus the same two-year guarantee and year of Amazon Kids+. The difference is older-child content and a less childish case.
For school-age children who read and play simple games, it's good value. If they'll watch a lot of video, I'd spend the extra £50 on the 10-inch model's sharper screen.
